RESEARCH, RESISTANCE PROFILE AND MOLECULAR CHARACTERIZATION OF DIFFERENT BACTERIAL PATHOGENIC PATHOTYPES ISOLATED FROM ANIMALS AND FOOD WITH EMPHASIS ON SHIGATOXIN-PRODUCING E. COLI (STEC/EHEC).
Coordinator: CECILIA NUNES MOREIRA
Different bacterial pathogens can cause diseases in animals and humans. Among them, pathogenic E. coli stands out, which can be classified as diarrheagenic or extra-intestinal. Knowledge of the presence of all these pathogens in animals and foods of animal origin, as well as their molecular characteristics such as virulence factors, phylogeny and antimicrobial resistance profile is relevant for animal and human health.
